Living near the Kadugodi metro: how the commute works

Last updated 31 October 2026

In short. Passengers have been riding the Purple Line out to Whitefield (Kadugodi) since March 2023, and that station is the line's eastern end. From the planned township it is roughly a 15 minute drive. No metro line to Hoskote has been sanctioned.

What runs today

The Purple Line connects Whitefield (Kadugodi) with the city centre and the western suburbs on one line. That is its value: you board once and do not change trains for the stations along it. Someone who works near a Purple Line station can plan a commute that avoids road traffic for most of the way.

The line has more than one stop in the area: besides the Whitefield (Kadugodi) terminus there is a Kadugodi Tree Park station, so people use both names when they search. Check BMRCL's current station list for the exact stops. The developer's documents describe the metro as a delivered asset, not a plan. We agree, with one caution: nobody should read the line as a door-to-door solution. You still travel from home to the station, and from the destination station to your office.

Working out your own commute

A realistic metro commute has four legs.

  1. Home to the station. About 15 minutes by road from the project area, by our estimate, longer at peak hours.
  2. Waiting and boarding. Check current frequency on the official metro timetable.
  3. The ride. Depends on your destination on the line.
  4. Station to workplace. Walk, auto or a shuttle.

Add the four together at your own travel hour. If the total beats the road, the metro suits you. If your office is far from any station, driving may still win.

What is tendered, building, or only proposed

Item Status What it means for you
Purple Line to Whitefield (Kadugodi) Operating Available today
482.8 m extension beyond Whitefield station Tendered A short stretch, unlikely to change daily life
Blue Line, Silk Board to KR Puram, extending to the airport Under construction Improves links around KR Puram and the airport
K-RIDE suburban rail, 149 km Planned Adds commuter rail across four corridors
Metro towards Hoskote Proposed, not sanctioned Do not count on it

The last row matters most. Some listings imply a metro to Hoskote. Public information describes it as an idea, with no approval. Make your decision around the line as it runs today.

Roads, if you drive

The other two daily options are Whitefield–Hoskote Road (SH-35) towards Whitefield and Hoskote, and Old Madras Road (NH-75) towards KR Puram and the city. For offices at Hoodi, ITPL or EPIP, compare the road trip with the metro trip before you choose.

Test it before you decide

Do the commute once as a trial. Leave at your usual time on a weekday, drive to the station, ride to your destination, and count the minutes. It costs half a day and tells you more than any brochure can.

Information on infrastructure comes from public reporting by agencies such as BMRCL. Check their latest notices before relying on any date.
